Things to Do: Amsterdam
Amsterdam is one of the most surprisingly fun places I have ever been to. I didn’t realize how many cool activities there are to do! Here is a list of the things that I recommended doing.
Number one on this list is the Anne Frank House, which you must book a few months in advance. Everything else you can do the day of!
1. Anne Frank House ($17, USD)
Must be booked about three months in advance
Tour the historic location where Anne Frank and her family lived in hiding
2. Canal Boat Tour (~$20, USD)
Usually about 1-2 hours
Many companies allow the option for smoking and drinking while onboard
3. Rent a bike and ride around the city (~$5 per hour)
Rent a bike from numerous bile rental places around the city and explore the less-touristy areas for cheap
4. Heineken Experience ($31, USD)
Explore the history of Heineken and how it’s made
The tour includes a rooftop patio and two free Heineken beers
Usually last 1-2 hours
5. See the windmills in Zaanse Schans (free)
Explore the iconic Dutch windmills on the waterfront
Entrance is free but the use of facilities can cost money
6. Party in the Red Light District (free)
Have a night out in the iconic Red Light District of Amsterdam, known for its clubs and sex shows
7. Go on a cheese-making tour (free - ~$10)
There are multiple cheese farms located right outside Amsterdam
Witness firsthand how cheese is made and even try some freshly-made cheese at any of the cheese-tasting tours.
Get Your Guide has some amazing tour options!
8. Moco Museum ($22)
Visit the amazing modern art museum with exhibitions from Andy Warhol and Bansky
9. Van Gogh Museum ($23)
Visit the museum of the famous Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh
Depending on the time of the year, tickets may sell out a few weeks in advance
10. Vibe (It is Amsterdam after all)
